Personal FM

Personal FM systems are used to overcome distance in difficult listening situations.. A small transmitter picks up the sound and broadcasts it via radio frequency. The sound is picked up by a person with a personal receiver and can be amplified to the listener's preference. FM is not a secure transmission and is not suitable for confidential settings.

Digital listening systems function in much the same way as the traditional FM, but the connection from the transmitter to the receiver is secure. The transmitter and receiver are paired and typically use a 2.6 GHz band to communicate. Someone with a similar receiver nearby cannot pick up the transmission unless their receiver is also paired to the transmitter.
